The truth was exposed on the most recent episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8,’ where the film’s director and program presenter Karan expressed his sadness at not having been allowed to work with the iconic actor.
KJo disclosed in the episode that he had proposed to Sharmila to play Alia Bhatt’s grandma. Shabana Azmi finally took on the role of the character. “I proposed that Sharmila ji be cast in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani as Shabana Azmi’s role. My initial pick was her. She was unable to respond affirmatively at the time due to health issues, but Karan regretted it.
